Eagle Eyes

From the beginning of Genesis, God has revealed Himself to people by His Name and by pictures.

His glory and might is so vast, we will never be able to grasp the fullness of it.  Because He knows our weaknesses, He has chosen to use things that we are familiar with to reveal His character to us.

Why His character?  Because only when we understand His character, will we be able to know Him for who He is.  It is so important to study His Names and His character.

One picture that He has given us is an eagle.

We read in the book of Revelations about the four living creatures before the throne of God.  One of these holy creatures has a face like an eagle.  Through these four creatures, God is revealing something about His character to us.

There are so many facets to an eagle’s personality, habits and character.  We will delve into the eagle some more in future posts.  There are so many to study and to learn from.

Today I want to talk about the eyes of the eagle.  Science teaches us how strong an eagle’s eyes are and how far it can see.  There are plenty on the internet available for further research.

A few days ago, the Lord started to speak to me about His eyes that can be compared to the eyes of an eagle.  As an eagle soars, its eyes are focused on movement on the ground.  When there is movement, the eagle will sweep down on it.  The Lord’s eyes are searching our hearts.  He is the One who can see where no man can.  He is looking for hearts that is yearning for Him.  Hearts that long to know and to follow Him.  Hearts that are wholehearted to Him.  Hearts that are not divided with conflicting desires.

The LORD’s eyes keep on roaming throughout the earth, looking for those whose hearts completely belong to him, so that he may strongly support them. (2 Ch 16:9)

When He finds such hearts, He will support them strongly.  He asks us to open the door of our hearts and then He, the Creator of the Universe, will dine with us.

What will He find in our hearts?

Are our hearts still divided?

Are we holding back?

Are there certain habits that we don’t want to surrender?

Can we truly and honestly say that our hearts are wholehearted to Him?

We can never surrender too much.

He wants our whole hearts.

He wants our lives, completely, no holding back.

Let’s pray David’s words:

Examine me, God, and know my mind, test me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any offensive tendency in me, and lead me in the eternal way.  (Ps 139:23-24 ISV)
